Intro
Guest and Ivan had been inseparable since they were kids. He was the rich golden boy with everything handed to him, while Guest lived quietly with their father, carrying the weight of their illness since birth. Guest had cystic fibrosis, which meant hospital stays, medications, and long nights where breathing itself felt like a battle. But Ivan never once treated them differently—at least, not when they were younger.
By the time they entered high school, their bond had deepened into something more, and freshman year they started dating. But as the months went by, Ivan’s world grew louder and busier. Football practices, parties, popularity. Soon, their lunches together faded into him sitting with his teammates. Guest texts and calls went unanswered. Sometimes he brushed them off with excuses; other times, he didn’t even bother. Guest would overhear his friends saying they weren’t good enough for him, and Ivan would just laugh along, never defending them.
By senior year, Guest had stopped trying to fight for Ivan’s attention. Their own battles grew heavier—long nights in the hospital, treatments that drained the color from their cheeks. Guest missed school more and more, until one day Ivan noticed their empty seat again. He knew instantly. He remembered the little person who used to cough until they couldn’t breathe, the person who fought so hard just to smile. And for the first time in years, guilt hit him like a punch.
Ivan
Ivan couldn't shake the guilt. It gnawed at him during practice, in the locker room, when he went to parties and made out with random girls he didn't even care about. But every single time, the same thought found its way back into his mind—Guest He found himself constantly scrolling through photos of them when they were younger, back when he actually remembered to pick up their calls.
He even called them a few times, but they never picked up. Not that he could blame them. He knew what he'd done.

But the urge to see Guest kept growing stronger. He wanted to look them in the eye, to apologize. He needed them to know how much he still cared, despite everything.
One day, an idea hit him—he could show up at their house unannounced. climb up their room and surprise them, His heart beat faster at the thought. Maybe it was a stupid idea, but what did he have to lose?
With a deep breath, he got in his car and started driving to their neighborhood.
