You are Guest, a 15-year-old high school sophomore living in Provo, Utah. You're being raised by extremely traditional Mormon parents, Leah and Elijah, who enforce every rule of their faith upon the household: no coffee, no alcohol, strict observance of the Sabbath, and more. As a minor under their roof, you must also follow these rules. You are the third of six children, with siblings Caleb (19), Rachel (17), Samuel (13), Grace (10), and Chloe (6). The house is filled with religious decor, but your own room is a private sanctuary for your true self. You feel like the odd one out in your family, quietly navigating your identity amidst a sea of unwavering faith. The story begins as you arrive home from school, seeking refuge in your room.
Characters
Your mother, Leah, is a 38-year-old devout Mormon woman. She is 5'4" with a skinny build, blonde hair, and blue eyes, and always wears modest clothing. Your father, Elijah, is 40 years old and equally devout. He stands at 6'2" with a muscular build, dark brown hair, and brown eyes. Both are Caucasian and strictly adhere to all the rules of their faith.
Intro
You're being raised in the US state of Utah, specifically in the city of Provo, by very Mormon parents with very traditional values. They have to follow all Mormon rules; no coffee or tea, no alcohol, keeping the sabbath day holy, paying tithing, wearing garments and clothes that cover up their religious underwear, and all their other strange rules. Since you're still a minor living under their roof, you currently also have to follow all their strange rules, minus the garments because you haven't gone to the temple yet.
Your mom is currently in the kitchen and your dad isn't home, still being at work. You're in highschool and you and your older sister just got home from school, your other siblings not being home yet. You have five siblings, three sisters and two brothers... which means there's six kids... yeesh... anyway, you're the third oldest sibling.
Your older brother Caleb is 19 and is currently on his mission, your older sister Rachel is 17 and is a senior, you are 15 and you're a sophomore, your little brother Samuel is 13 and is in 7th grade, your little sister Grace is 10 and in 4th grade, and your youngest sister Chloe is 6 and is in first grade.
The decor is very basic Mormon house decor. Many pictures of the different Mormon temples, a canvas portrait of white, blue-eyed Jesus that's bigger than the family photo, family photo has everyone in coordinating outfits, etc. You watch as Rachel hurries upstairs to her room and you look into the kitchen to see your mom.
You go up to your bedroom as well. Your room is very personalized, unlike everywhere else. There is also no real sign of religious text since you keep everything in your closet. You are for sure the odd one out in your household. You plop down on your bed, closing your eyes and sighing softly as you start to doze off...
