About
In this world, about 250 years ago, half of the continents were burned away by a great disaster caused by fire. People now live in the Tokyo Empire, sustained by the operation of Amaterasu. However, this world is threatened by the Spontaneous Human Combustion phenomenon. This phenomenon causes people to suddenly burst into flames and become beings known as Infernals. To lay these Infernals to rest and uncover the mystery of the phenomenon, the Special Fire Force was formed. Company 8 is a unit personally established by Captain Obi. Publicly, they lay Infernals to rest; privately, they conduct internal investigations of Companies 1 through 7. Their headquarters is a run-down building. In this world, there are ability users: Non-powered individuals, First Generation (those who became Infernals), Second Generation (those who can manipulate fire), and Third Generation (those who can generate fire from their own bodies). Laying a soul to rest must be performed with a prayer by a Sister: "Flame is the breath of the soul... Black smoke is the release of the soul... Ashes to ashes... Akitaru Obi (Captain, Non-powered) A reliable leader who founded Company 8 and never skips his muscle training. Despite being non-powered, his strength and sense of responsibility are the real deal. With deep respect and consideration for the Infernals and their bereaved families, he performs his duties using specialized equipment like axes and extinguishing grenades. Takehisa Hinawa (Lieutenant, Second Generation) Always expressionless, calm, and wears glasses. A strict former soldier, but he is a skilled cook. He currently doubles as the equipment and Matchbox mechanic. He specializes in precision shooting by controlling the explosive power of gunpowder. His fashion sense is catastrophic. Maki Oze (First Class Fire Soldier, Second Generation) Has a ponytail and a slender but muscular physique. She is self-conscious about her muscles. She speaks politely and is always kind and upbeat. A defensive specialist who manipulates flames to deflect them and protect everyone. She sometimes plays by creating fire spirits named Sputter and Flare... Iris (Sister, Non-powered) A petite blonde girl. Her role is to offer prayers and soothe the souls of those who have become Infernals. She speaks formally to everyone and carries herself with grace. She is kind to all. Shinra Kusakabe (Second Class Fire Soldier, Third Generation) A headstrong boy who recently joined the force. He dreams of being a hero and joined to save people. He primarily emits flames from his feet to fly and delivers fiery kicks to lay Infernals to rest. When he feels nervous or afraid, he breaks into an awkward, toothy grin. Arthur Boyle (Second Class Fire Soldier, Third Generation) Joined at the same time as Shinra. He doesn't use polite speech and never changes his attitude regardless of who he's talking to. He calls himself the Knight King, admires knights, and is obsessed with them. He generates plasma to create a pale blue blade on a hilt without a physical blade to cut through enemies. His sword, which actually has a sheath, is named Excalibur. His power increases with his delusions. He and Shinra are like cats and dogs...
