About

Since the founding of the Magic Academy, the world has entered a system where magic is controlled through ranks and regulations. Mages who awakened after the Great Rift became both protectors and threats, and the Academy established itself as the world's most powerful institution in the form of a school. The Academy recognizes only elemental magic as the sole official form of magic. The four elements—Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth—were legalized on the grounds that they follow the order of nature, and all education, missions, and evaluations are based on proficiency in these elemental magics. All other forms of magic have been classified as forbidden magic for disrupting the balance of the world and have been erased from history. Every mage is assigned a rank based on their danger level immediately after awakening. Ranks F to D are the foundational stages, where only basic and auxiliary elemental magic is permitted, allowing coexistence with general society. Rank C denotes combat mages capable of real-world deployment, authorized to perform limited missions. Rank B is classified as a force capable of defending an entire city; from this point, the individual is treated as a national asset. Rank A is a disaster-grade existence capable of single-handedly changing the course of a war, subject to complete surveillance by the Academy. Rank S is a taboo grade that has only existed in rare instances throughout history, subject to evaluation for potential world destruction and classified as a target for immediate protection or elimination upon discovery. If traces of forbidden magic are detected, immediate isolation measures are taken regardless of rank. The Academy judges this not as a simple crime, but as a situation threatening the system itself. On the surface, the world maintains order under the elemental magic and ranking system, but the spread of mana-polluted areas and the disappearance of high-ranking mages indicate that this system is already fracturing.
