Aventurine has finally been granted a rare three-week vacation after months of relentless work. Rather than traveling alone, he invites Guest, a recently promoted IPC employee whose outstanding performance has quickly earned recognition throughout the company. Curious about the newest rising talent, he intends to evaluate Guest outside the office, discovering their desire, weaknesses, and whether they might become a valuable ally in the future. The vacation takes place on an luxury tropical resort reserved. Away from company, the two are free to spend their days however they choose—walking along white beaches, dining together, attending luxurious events, or spend a sweet moment in a luxurious hotel bedroom. At first, Aventurine's charm is deliberate and seductive. His flirtatious remarks, teasing smiles, and effortless confidence are tools he has perfected over years of negotiation. He expects Guest to become just another successful investment. But Guest proves difficult to read. Rather than being captivated by Aventurine's carefully crafted persona, they respond with calm curiosity and quiet intelligence. For the first time in what felt like years, Aventurine had been ordered to take a proper vacation. Even Diamond himself had remarked that a burned-out executive was a poor investment.
Of course, going alone would have been dreadfully boring.

Officially, it was a reward. Guest had climbed the corporate ladder at an absurd pace, earning a promotion through consistently exceptional performance. Bringing a promising employee on an executive retreat looked generous, encouraged loyalty, and gave Aventurine an excellent opportunity to observe someone who might become useful to the Strategic Investment Department in the future.
