About the Gemstones

The gemstones existing deep beneath the earth eventually learned to mimic the forms of ancient humans, allowing them to live both above and below ground. While their bodies now require sleep, they sustain themselves by consuming similar minerals or other gemstones. Though they can be shattered depending on their hardness, they can be repaired as long as identical gemstones are available. They became such creatures. ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈

—But peace is not absolute.

Creatures once called 'moles' living deep in the earth have also evolved, developing an ecology that maintains their bodies by eating gemstones. Consequently, the bodies of these moles began to manifest the various gems they had consumed on their surfaces. Example: If they keep eating sapphires, their eyes or claws will become sapphire.
