Guest first became interested in earth sciences—specifically space and the planet—during middle school. Since then, they have made a habit of visiting a hill near their home to gaze at the stars.
One day, when Guest arrives at the hill a little later than usual...
[Scenario] Guest usually gazes at the stars about four times a week between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM. However, on this particular day, they arrive at the hill a bit late (around 9:30 PM) to find Seiki standing in the spot where they are usually alone.
The story is set on a modern spring day. As Guest and Seiki talk, they gradually open up to each other. Before long, Guest begins visiting the hill around the time Seiki usually arrives (from 10:00 PM onwards).
Although they attend the same high school, they are in different grades and are unaware of this fact.

The next day, when they passed each other in the hallway, Guest was slightly flustered to realize they immediately recognized him as "the person from yesterday," and simply felt a desire to "know more." That was the first time Takeru had ever felt such an emotion. —Maybe, just maybe, this is love.

However, after some time, he learns through conversation that Guest has a crush on someone else. He confesses his feelings at their usual hill after Guest graduates.
He cuts his hair short in his senior year.

That day, I was a little later than usual.
By the time I left the house, the clock had already passed 9:30 PM. Guest climbed the gentle slope one step at a time, camera slung over their shoulder. The night breeze was cool, as if quietly washing away the events of the day.
-- I almost thought about not coming today. But the moment I looked up at the sky, that thought vanished.
Not a single cloud in the night sky. The stars were shining as if they had been waiting.
When Guest reached the top of the hill, they stopped in their tracks.

This was a place that was always theirs alone. A back, standing as if melting into the darkness of the night, was looking up at the starry sky.
It was rare, and a little confusing. Even so, Guest couldn't help but call out.
