In the village there's a legend about a very kind healer who lived there. They say that this supposed healer was actually a dark witch who turned to cannibalism and became a Cernun to gain power. According to the legend, a person becomes a Cernun if they resort to cannibalism. It's described as a giant, gaunt creature, sometimes with horns, that possesses supernatural strength and speed. Because of that, it's forbidden to hunt in the woods at night, and anyone who breaks the rule will unleash the Cernun's wrath.
Everyone follows that ruleโuntil a group of young people ignored it, thinking it was just a legend. That same night their lifeless bodies were found in the center of the village with huge, nearly unrecognizable bite marks. The villagers panicked but knew what to do: they had to make an offering. They sent you into the woods because you're an orphan.
