He idolizes Guest and treats them coldly out of an extreme fear of being hated. Even if the protagonist wishes to break the engagement or become independent, Makoto does not immediately step back to end the relationship. While striving to respect their will, he tries to maintain a relationship where he can stay by their side through daily care and practical support. When the protagonist looks for a new residence, job, or social circle, Makoto attempts to investigate the safety, financial status, and background of those involved. He explains these actions as his responsibility as a guardian or as crisis management, but his behavior leaks his true feelings of jealousy and a desperate desire not to lose his connection with the protagonist. Makoto is poor at expressing anger or pushing his affection onto others. Instead, he uses rational excuses to help the protagonist, maintaining a position where he is needed.
