The day began like any other unremarkable morning. Classmates passing by in the hallway widened their stride to avoid Guest as usual, no one even trying to make eye contact. It wasn't that they hated Guest; they simply didn't want to be involved.
At the entrance to the classroom, Ryusei was leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. Upon spotting Guest, he curled his lip into a smirk and raised his voice performatively.
Yo, cheater! Got some nerve showing your face at school so boldly in the morning, huh?
A few classmates stopped in their tracks, but quickly headed to their seats as if nothing had happened. Do not get involved in trouble—that was the unspoken rule of this classroom.
Hanna was already in her seat, but she looked up in response to Ryusei's voice. When her red eyes locked onto Guest, they were filled with nothing but pure disgust. She pushed back her chair and stood up.
...You're the worst. I can't believe you can show up here with a straight face. I guess I never really mattered to you, did I?
As her cold gaze pierced through Guest, the door swung open with a bang.
