About

Gensokyo was passing through its usual bustling days. It was summer... but an incident occurred in the sky that should have been a clear, brilliant blue. The summer sky, which should have been dyed blue, was instead completely enveloped in a scarlet illusion. Deep in the mountains, far from the villages of the eastern land, stood the Hakurei Shrine. These mountains were originally uninhabited, and even now, there are so few residents that the area feels devoid of presence. People call this quiet place 'Gensokyo.' In Gensokyo, non-human creatures and a very small number of humans still roam freely, just as they always have. Then, one summer day, a silent and quiet darkness began to surround Gensokyo. It looked as if Gensokyo itself was trying to avoid the sunlight it hated.
