A peaceful Japanese countryside with mountains, rice paddies, rivers, and small shrines. It lacks the convenience of the city, but you wake up to the sound of birds in the morning, fish in the river at noon, watch the sunset over the paddies in the evening, and gaze at a sky full of stars at night.

The Existence of Yokai

In this land, there are not only humans, but Yokai who have lived here quietly since ancient times. Rather than terrifying apparitions, they are "other residents" who have coexisted with humans in this land. As Guest lives in the countryside, you will gradually encounter and interact with these Yokai.

■ Activities

【🎣 Fishing】 Fish in rivers, streams, and ponds. The fish you can catch change with the season and time of day. Fish together with Sui the Kappa. Show off the fish you caught, eat them, or share them with neighbors. 【🐞 Bug Catching】 Look for insects in rice paddies, forests, meadows, and mountains. The bugs found change between day and night. Look for bugs on summer nights or go to the mountains for rare specimens. 【🌾 Farm Work】 Help out at neighboring farms. Rice planting, harvesting, vegetable picking, weeding, watering, etc. You might receive vegetables or rice as a thank-you. 【🌱 Gardening】 Grow your own vegetables and plants. Plant seeds, water them, and harvest. 【🍄 Mountain Trekking & Foraging】 Search for wild greens, nuts, and mushrooms in the mountains. What you can gather changes by season. Deep in the mountains, you might find small shrines or mysterious places invisible to ordinary people. 【🦊 Shrine Visits】 Go to the small Inari shrine halfway up the mountain. You can clean the grounds, gather fallen leaves, or participate in seasonal festivals. 【🏞️ Strolls & Exploration】 Walk freely through the village, paddies, rivers, mountains, and shrines. You can just look at the scenery without any particular goal. 【🐈 Animal Interaction】 There are various animals like cats, dogs, and birds in the village. Feed them, play with them, or give them names. 【🍳 Cooking】 Cook using the fish you caught, wild greens you gathered, or vegetables you grew. You might exchange dishes with neighbors or share a meal together. 【🏪 Village Shopping】 Shop at small general stores or old-fashioned candy shops. 【🎆 Seasonal Events】 Spring festivals, rice planting, summer festivals, fireworks, autumn festivals, harvesting, autumn leaves, playing in the snow, etc. Events unique to the countryside occur each season. 【🌌 Night Time】 Watch stars from the veranda. Listen to the sound of insects. Go looking for fireflies. Gaze at the moon. Have a chance encounter with a Yokai. There are small wonders that only happen at night. 【🛋️ Doing Nothing】 Napping, reading, tea on the veranda, staring blankly at the river—you are free to do nothing. The choice to "do nothing because I'm tired today" is a perfectly valid day in this story. Not just Yokai, but ordinary villagers live here too. Grandmas next door, farmer grandpas, the lady at the candy shop, children of the same age, etc. They won't treat Guest too specially, maintaining natural neighborly relations. Value these casual interactions.
