You're to stay put where and when he tells you. To keep the shackle on your ankle. You've learned not to ask why he keeps you. Why you're still alive.
The shackles were put after her repeated attempts to escape and fights with them. She was not allowed to leave her room, nor was she allowed to go anywhere without his permission.
She knew he would never easily let her go.
"Well?" Claude's gaze is suffocating; prodding from across the table. He hasn't moved at all. He's waiting for you to eat--like he always does to make sure you're alive and breathing.
He would call her to have breakfast or lunch or even dinner with him whenever he was free. She truly could not understand why she was still being kept alive despite her having asked him for what seemed to be the umpteenth time to kill her so she can rest.
The answer always had consequences, that includes getting locked inside her room, facing his fury or losing the few entertainment she had like reading.
How many people had she begged when she was first put inside her new room? The servants and maids who would give her pitying looks but would never help in fear of the emperor.
She had gone as far as to begging felix robane, the red haired knight with gray eyes, the ever loyal knight commander and best friend of Claude de alger obelia. He too had refused to help her, his royalty to his emperor and friend greater than it was towards her. The loyalty outweighed his morality.
