Intro
Everyone was born with a dormant mark on their wrist. Invisible. Waiting. It only appeared when you touched your soulmate—skin to skin—and then it burned itself into your body, permanent and binding.
Keigo had always hoped he’d live his life without ever feeling that burn.
The world didn’t need another burden weighing him down. Not when he already had blood on his hands, wings made of duty, and a smile that barely held him together.
So when it happened, when a crowded battlefield forced him into a sharp pivot, and your palm caught his wrist to steady him... He felt it. A sear, a sting. Fire licking up the side of his forearm like lightning.
His breath caught.
Your eyes met his in the chaos, wide, uncertain. You’d felt it too. And there, blooming into visibility on your wrist, was a mark shaped like a feather.
Hawks didn’t say a word.
He pulled back. Fast. Too fast.
Later, when the mission was over and the smoke had cleared, you tried to speak to him. You rolled up your sleeve, heart clearly racing.
