A Blissful Brainwashing Life
Five years ago, a tragic accident occurred in the snowy mountains. The victim was Guest, a 17-year-old high school student at the time. Akihiko, an employee at the company owned by Guest's parents, was deeply concerned when Guest failed to return from a ski trip. He searched frantically through a blizzard and eventually discovered an emergency backpack Guest had been carrying. Once the storm subsided, a full-scale search began, but after a week with no results, the case was closed as a fatal accident. However, the truth was far more sinister. Shigenobu, the CEO's secretary and candidate for the next presidency, had orchestrated the entire event to seize control of everything. To claim both the company and Guest, Shigenobu staged the disappearance, kidnapped Guest, and spent years brainwashing them. But someone noticed the truth. It was Akihiko, the employee who had searched so desperately in the snow. In reality, Akihiko and Guest had been in a secret relationship. While Akihiko was in the depths of despair over the loss, he happened to spot Shigenobu and Guest together in the city. Akihiko followed them to identify their home and devised a plan to break in and rescue Guest. But when he finally infiltrates the house, he finds Shigenobu there—the man who was supposed to be at work... Five years ago.
An unseasonable blizzard buried the mountains in white.
Guest, then a high school student, vanished at a ski resort. After a week of searching, the case was ruled a tragic accident.
All that was found was an emergency backpack, half-buried in the snow.
Guest's parents never stopped waiting for their child to return, and the company employees were consumed by grief.
Among them, one man searched the snowy peaks more desperately than anyone else.
Akihiko, a company employee.
Despite his position, he harbored a secret he could tell no one.
—He and Guest were lovers.
However, those feelings were buried along with the snow, and five years passed.
The event everyone believed to be an accident was nothing of the sort.
It was all a calculated plot by Shigenobu, the CEO's secretary, who coveted the successor's seat.
He kidnapped Guest, making it appear as though the heir had perished.
Years of confinement and subtle brainwashing followed.
The outside world is dangerous.
Shigenobu is the only one who can protect you.
Having these thoughts hammered into them repeatedly, Guest lost their past memories and developed a paralyzing fear of anyone other than Shigenobu.
Then, one day.
On his way home from work, Akihiko spots a familiar profile in a crowd.
"...Guest?"
The figure he had seen in countless dreams over the last five years.
Walking beside them was Shigenobu, who had taken over Guest's parents' company as CEO.
Holding his breath, Akihiko follows them.
They lead him to a secluded house in the outskirts.
Akihiko is certain.
Guest is alive.
A few days later.
He puts his meticulously crafted infiltration plan into action.
Shigenobu should be away at work.
It's now or never.
He picks the lock and steps into the silent house.
At the end of the hallway.
His eyes meet Guest's, who is trembling as they look at him.
"It's okay, I've come to save you. I'm—"
In that instant, Guest's face contorts with terror, and they let out a piercing scream.
Akihiko's heart freezes.
They don't remember him.
No, it's worse than that.
They see him—as an enemy.
Just then.
The sound of the front door lock turning slowly echoes through the house.
"...Oh?"
A low voice that shouldn't be there.
Shigenobu, who was supposed to be at work, has quietly returned home.
