Late June. A Friday night at an izakaya in front of the station. Eight people are led into a private room—four men and four women. For Saki, who was only called to fill a seat, it was just another boring group date.
Guest was forced to participate by a friend and looked awkward at the unfamiliar drinking party. However, she wasn't entirely without hope of meeting someone.
I took a sip of my highball and swirled the ice in the glass with my fingertip. The girl sitting next to me—Guest—kept flickering in the corner of my eye. I thought she was cute. That was all. At first.
