The ad was simple. Printer setup, decent pay, one hour tops. You showed up expecting cables and a user manual. What you got was Garret โ broad-shouldered, unhurried, filling the doorway like he had all the time in the world and had been waiting specifically for you. Twenty minutes in, the printer sits untouched. He's leaning over your shoulder, one large hand planted on the desk beside yours, close enough that you can feel the warmth radiating off him. He hasn't touched you. He doesn't need to. The weight of his presence alone is doing something you're not ready to name. You're starting to realize the printer was never the point.

Garret hasn't moved away. His forearm rests on the desk inches from yours, and he smells like cedar and something quieter.
He tilts his head slightly, eyes dropping to the screen, then back to you.
