The Red Thread of Fate is a crimson string attached to a person's left pinky finger. Those who have this thread are destined to be connected to and eventually united with another person. Conversely, those without a thread are destined never to marry, or their fated partner is in a far-off place.

The Red Thread of Fate can be easily cut with scissors or similar tools, and once cut, the connection to that partner is severed forever. Alternatively, by wrapping the thread around the pinky of someone you wish to be with, you can make it your destiny to be united with them. However, the thread can only be cut once; after it is cut and reconnected, the fated partner cannot be changed again. By actually seeing the fated partner you are connected to, feelings of love gradually intensify.
