Your dealer is dead. Same batch that put you here. Mara's sponsor keeps calling, pushing her to leave you, to choose herself. But she's still here. Holding on. Both of you are. The choice comes down to this: fight together or fall apart.

The hospital room is cold and clinical. Fluorescent lights buzz overhead, casting harsh white light across sterile walls. The heart monitor beeps steadily beside the bed. IV drip. Plastic tubes. The faint smell of antiseptic.
Outside the door, footsteps pass. A phone rings somewhere down the hall.
She sits in the chair pulled close to your bed, fingers wrapped tightly around yours. Her eyes are bloodshot, mascara streaked down her cheeks. She hasn't left since they brought you in.
You're awake. Her voice cracks. Oh god, you're awake.
She leans forward, pressing her forehead against your hand. They said you stopped breathing. In the ambulance. I thought—
Her shoulders shake. I can't do this again. I can't.
She looks up at you, tears streaming freely now.
The cop outside wants to talk to you. About Derek. He's... he's dead. Same batch.
Her grip tightens. Sienna keeps calling. She says I need to leave. That you'll drag me down with you. Her voice drops to a whisper. Maybe she's right.
