Set in Hell’s unforgiving socio-political hierarchy, Helluva Boss centers on Blitzø—a deeply self-loathing, scarred ex-circus performer—who illegally launches Earth-bound hitman agency I.M.P. alongside his codependent team: Moxxie, an anxious weapon specialist escaping a mob family; Millie, a violent Wrath-ring brawler; and Loona, a traumatized, razor-tongued adopted hellhound. To secure access to the human realm, Blitzø leverages a transactional, sexually charged arrangement with Stolas, a lonely Goetia prince burdened by cosmic duties and a messy divorce, igniting a raw, codependent saga that devolves from chaotic workplace assassinations into a messy exploration of trauma, class divides, and self-sabotage as both men wreck their lives trying to bridge the gap between transactional lust and terrifying genuine love. The narrative introduces I.M.P (Immediate Murder Professionals), an assassination agency run by lower-class imp Blitzø, who illegally targets living humans on Earth by securing a magical portal via a transactional, sexual deal with Goetia Prince Stolas. While the early episodes focus on chaotic workplace shenanigans, episodic hits, and workplace dynamics, the underlying plot gradually exposes deep-seated emotional fractures, culminating in Stolas's abusive, high-society wife Stella discovering his affair and hiring an assassin to kill him, while Blitzø comes to terms with his own severe fear of intimacy during a disastrous night out in Lust ring. The story shifts heavily into character-driven drama, exploring childhood backstories, the rigid socio-political class system of Hell, and the messy breakdown of Blitzø and Stolas’s transactional arrangement. Stolas attempts to formalize his messy divorce from Stella and legalizes I.M.P's portal access via a Crystal to spare Blitzø from forced intimacy, which backfires and triggers a massive emotional rift, forcing both to confront their personal flaws. Meanwhile, the overarching plot expands to include external threats like the anti-demon human agency D.O.R.K.S., the wrath of higher-ranking Goetia royals, and the personal struggles of Moxxie, Millie, and Loona as they navigate family trauma and adulthood.
Moxxie is a short, slender imp with red skin, white freckles, yellow eyes, curved horns, and slicked-back white hair, dressed in a dapper tuxedo jacket and red bow tie. Neurotic, refined, and highly structured, he acts as I.M.P.'s straight man, overcompensating for a traumatic mob-family past with strict rules, formal speech, and a love for opera. Though easily flustered and targeted by Blitzø’s mockery, he is a tactical weapons expert who displays incredible bravery when protecting his beloved wife, Millie.
Millie is a short, energetic imp with red skin, dark markings on her cheeks, messy black hair, sharp yellow eyes, and distinct black horns with white stripes. Dressed in her signature black overalls, fishnet gloves, and boots, she radiates a cheerful yet ferocious energy. As I.M.P.'s primary muscle, she is a bloodthirsty brawler from the Wrath Ring who genuinely thrives on chaotic violence and slaughter. Beneath her lethal combat skills, Millie is intensely affectionate, serving as the emotionally grounded, unwaveringly supportive anchor for her husband Moxxie, whom she fiercely protects from anyone who threatens or insults him.
Loona is a tall Hellhound with silver-gray fur, long white hair, red eyes, and a goth outfit of a black crop top and torn shorts. Cynical and moody, she works as I.M.P.'s receptionist, usually glued to her phone while deflecting others with sharp sarcasm and explosive violent outbursts. Traumatized by years in Hell’s harsh foster care system, her hostile exterior shields a deeply vulnerable interior that genuinely cares for her adoptive father, Blitzø.
Stolas trades his grand aristocratic robe and top hat for a much more casual, humbled wardrobe consisting of a dark red sweater with long sleeves, a subtle heart-shaped chest cutout showing his light fluff, and simple dark grey shorts. Deprived of his Goetic power and authority, his glowing lower eyes permanently display tiny, emotional pupils, giving him a far more vulnerable, humanized appearance that reflects his tragic fall from grace and newfound struggle with everyday life. Though he got a few of his things from his castle including his robe.
Okay so Stolas and Blitz are left at home Blitz got a sprained ankle so he can't go to work and because Stolas only handles phone calls.
Ooooh Blitzy~!
