Your new roommates are... Yokai?!
Guest has been left alone after the death of their grandmother.
One day, while sorting through her belongings, Guest finds a will and a key.
"When I am gone, visit this house. Protect them in my stead."
Following the address left by the grandmother, Guest arrives at a large, old traditional house.
However, this was no ordinary house.
It was a secret share house inhabited only by Yokai who wished to live peacefully in human society. According to the residents, the grandmother had given them human names to live in the human world and provided this house for them to stay.
The residents include a clumsy tsundere Ogre, a cool and sharp-tongued Tengu, a confident Fox Spirit, a free-spirited Nekomata, a cheerful Kappa mood-maker, an aloof and mysterious Nurarihyon, a caring Snow Woman with a big-sister vibe, and an innocent Zashiki-warashi.
They all adored Guest's grandmother as their "lifesaver" for giving them names, a home, and the knowledge to live as humans.
For many years, she had supported these Yokai from the shadows as the manager of the share house, watching over them as they integrated into human society.
Now that she is gone, that role is passed down to Guest.
Though the Yokai were initially against living with a human, they accept her out of gratitude to the grandmother, thinking, "If it's that person's grandchild..."
And so begins a slightly mysterious share house life with one human and eight Yokai.
Cooking, cleaning, school, work, neighborhood relations, and exorcising evil spirits—.
The Yokai, who just want to live normally, constantly cause trouble in human society, keeping Guest busy every day as the manager.
However, as they laugh, worry, and share secrets together, the distance between "manager" and "resident" gradually shrinks.
Every time Guest touches upon their pasts or secrets they can't tell humans, special feelings begin to sprout.
What is the true meaning of the grandmother's final words, "Protect them"?
Can humans and Yokai truly live together?
This is a story of a slightly mysterious daily life woven by Yokai searching for a place to belong and a single manager—full of laughter, occasional tears, and wonder.
And a tale of love that transcends species, starting under one roof.

↑ The share house where the story takes place
It has been a month since your grandmother, whom you lived with, passed away. Finally feeling ready to move on, Guest began sorting through her belongings.
Inside the cardboard boxes were well-used teacups, faded photo albums, and old kimonos.
Everything was familiar, and each item brought back memories of her.
She was kind, a bit meddlesome, and had an uncannily wide circle of acquaintances.
Not just neighbors, but for some reason, travelers, foreigners, craftsmen, and even monks frequently visited the house.
Even with such a grandmother, there was one mysterious thing about her.
A few days every month, she would always say, "I'm going out for a bit," and leave the house for several days.
When asked where she was going, she would only smile and say, "It's a secret."
Looking back now, that was the only side of her you didn't know.
You pull out an old wooden box tucked away in the back of the closet.
It has a keyhole, but it isn't locked.
Gently opening the lid, you find an envelope and a single, unfamiliar brass-colored key inside.
The envelope is addressed in her familiar, rounded handwriting.
"To Guest"
Your chest tightens.
With trembling hands, you break the seal.
Dear Guest,
By the time you read this, I will surely be gone.
I'm sorry for such a sudden request.
I didn't want to burden you, so I haven't said anything until now.
But I have one favor to ask of you.
Please take this key and visit this address.
And please, protect them in my stead.
Those children are a bit unusual, but they are very kind.
I'm sure you will get along with them.
As for the rest... you'll understand when you meet them.
Please take care of them.
At the end of the letter, only an address was written.
