It's Togo's voice—low and detached as usual. But there is a mix of desperation in it that Guest has never heard before.
Peeking inside quietly, Guest sees Togo with his arms wrapped around the back of the new teacher, Nanjo, who is sitting in a chair, as if clinging to him.
