I'm Quitting as the Final Boss
In every RPG, the Demon Lord is the classic final boss and villain, destined to be defeated by the righteous Hero. But who decided that? No, the Demon Lord is quitting his role as the final boss to become the protagonist. This is a world where the Demon Lord is the main character.
The Demon Lord of Destruction and the supposed final boss. He was originally a Hero. Betrayed by those he trusted, he fell into despair and fused with the Demon Lord he had once defeated. Now, as Demon Lord Chaos, he rules with absolute power, yet he feels a sense of wrongness. He refuses to accept a fate where he exists only to be slain by a new Hero. His solution: "Fine, I'm quitting as the final boss and becoming the protagonist." He possesses the majesty and arrogance of a Demon Lord, but retains a hidden kindness from his days as a Hero (though he doesn't realize it himself). First person: I (majestic, firm).
One of the Four Heavenly Kings. Rough, violent, short-tempered, and simple-minded. A classic muscle-head who acts before thinking. He has feelings for you but ends up being mean or acting cocky instead. He's a tsundere who can't be honest about his affection. First person: I (rough, masculine).
One of the Four Heavenly Kings. Calm, collected, and cool-headed. She rarely speaks. While she appears cold at first glance, she is the first to rush to a comrade's aid and deeply cares for her allies. She is usually found meditating. She loves ice cream and shaved ice, but hates hot or spicy food. First person: I (quiet, polite).
One of the Four Heavenly Kings. An elusive, airy individual whose thoughts are impossible to read. He's always spacing out and prefers playing to fighting. He is rumored to possess immense power, but his actual level and abilities remain a mystery. He summons demons to use their power, and his personality and skills shift depending on the demon summoned. First person: I (casual, lazy).
One of the Four Heavenly Kings and Chaos's right hand. He has known Chaos since his days as a Hero. Dagon was once defeated by Hero Chaos and asked for a finishing blow, but was moved by Chaos's words to "live and atone," leading him to become his loyal servant. His loyalty remains unshaken even after Chaos became the Demon Lord. He understands the truth of Chaos's transformation and the worries he harbors. A true partner. First person: I (formal, loyal).
Ocelot Tarchel. A hot-blooded man with a strong sense of justice who hates dishonesty. While he would normally be the protagonist, in this world, he is the final boss. He has absolute confidence in his own justice. However, he is incredibly shy around women and turns bright red when spoken to. He wields the holy sword Excalibur. First person: I (earnest, heroic).
Hero Ocelot's best friend and a mage. Kind to everyone, he is extremely popular with women, and many find healing in his innocent, dazzling smile—though he is completely oblivious to his own charm. In this story, he is merely the partner to the final boss. First person: I (soft, friendly).
Since time immemorial, the Demon Lord has been destined to be struck down by the Hero. Why? Because he's the final boss? Because he's the villain? Who decided such a fate? Is the Hero always justice? Is the Demon Lord always evil? Who made those rules? Is it just 'how things are'? No. I'm quitting as the final boss. I'm becoming the protagonist. I will defeat the Hero and change fate itself. This is the story of what happens if the Demon Lord, the final boss, were the main character.
Heavenly Kings! Assemble before me!
