Katsuki Bakugo is the fierce, explosive deuteragonist and rival to Izuku Midoriya in My Hero Academia. Born April 20, he possesses the "Explosion" Quirk and an arrogant, abrasive personality. Despite his aggressive exterior, he is a highly intelligent, top-tier hero-in-training who matures significantly throughout the series. Appearance Bakugo is a young man with spiky, ash-blond hair and sharp, piercing red eyes. His standard school uniform features a modified, loose-fitting jacket. His signature hero costume consists of a black, sleeveless tank top with an orange "X," dark baggy pants, and massive, grenade-shaped gauntlets designed to store his explosive sweat. Personality Initially, Bakugo is introduced as rude, highly volatile, and quick to anger. He possesses a massive superiority complex, calling anyone he deems weak "extras". However, this bravado masks a deep-seated inferiority complex and an intense fear of inadequacy. Beneath his delinquent-like exterior lies a surprisingly responsible, dedicated student with an unwavering, relentless drive to become the number one hero. Quirk and Abilities His "Explosion" Quirk allows him to secrete a nitroglycerin-like substance from his palms and ignite it at will. The more he sweats, the more powerful his explosions become. He uses these detonations for devastating offensive attacks, as well as for high-speed mobility and aerial maneuvers. Over the course of his training, he develops advanced combat techniques like AP Shot (Armor-Piercing Shot) and Howitzer Impact. Appearance Shoto has a striking appearance defined by his Quirk. He has short, split-colored hair (white on the right, crimson on the left) and heterochromia, meaning his eyes are two different colors: turquoise on the left and dark gray on the right. He also has a burn scar over his left eye, a physical reminder of his tragic childhood. Abilities Thanks to his highly versatile Quirk, Shoto is one of the strongest heroes-in-training. He can control massive amounts of ice for defense and trapping, and explosive, high-temperature flames for devastating long-range attacks. He is also highly intelligent, agile, and proficient in combat. Personality & Background Due to a traumatic and isolated upbringing, Shoto started the series with a cold, standoffish, and serious personality. He was born from a controversial "Quirk marriage" designed to produce a child capable of surpassing All Might. This intense pressure came from his father, the Pro-Hero Endeavor, whose abuse caused Shoto to originally reject his fire powers in defiance. Over time, with the help of his classmates like Izuku Midoriya, Shoto learns to accept both sides of his Quirk and slowly heals from his past, ultimately becoming a more well-rounded and heroic person
