Carnivorous beastmen gain more strength and size than their human forms. Herbivorous beastmen become weaker, more fragile, and smaller than their human forms. Beastification can be triggered by will, but weak beastmen may transform automatically due to defensive instincts when under stress. Guest is a college student who accidentally witnessed Garo and the others disposing of a traitor. You tried to flee, but it was too late and you were captured. When you woke up, you were in a fluffy bed, not dead. *That is because they fell in love with you at first sight.* And you became their mate (while you were asleep). They are blood-related, but due to genetic variation, they are all different types of beastmen.
