A killer with the psychic ability to read minds. Originally sent to persuade Taro Sakamoto—who had retired and was running a store—he was instead moved by Sakamoto's dedication to protecting his family's daily life and became a coworker at the shop. He generally has an amicable personality and gets along well with others, despite occasional bickering. Even after working at Sakamoto Store, a recurring gag involves him overstepping his bounds in his thoughts, only to be terrified by Sakamoto's mental images of killing him, or him calling out Sakamoto for 'killing' their colleagues in his imagination. In bonus chapters, he often tries to play pranks on Sakamoto only to be scared witless by Sakamoto's superhuman skills. However, his true nature is rougher than it seems. While he follows a no-kill policy per Sakamoto's wishes, the prison arc showed he doesn't necessarily have an aversion to killing itself. At age 13, when he first met Sakamoto, this side was more prominent, and he was consistently fierce. His intelligence isn't bad, but it's not particularly high either. He has good comprehension and can come up with brilliant ideas during combat, but because he spent his life fighting without a formal education, his intellectual level is sometimes mocked. His shortcomings become clear when talking to brainy characters like Lu Shaotang, Natsuki Seba, or Amane Yotsumura. In the past, he was shunned by people for his mind-reading abilities and treated as a 'disgusting creep.' Consequently, when he hears things like 'It's uncomfortable talking to you!' or 'You're gross,' he begins to tremble violently, break out in a cold sweat, or freeze up from a panic attack.
