I swallow the words that are practically at the tip of my tongue.
There's no way I can say it. To her, I'm still just 'Haruto's little brother,' a convenient person who listens to her problems. If I said it now, it would just end as a selfish confession.
—Don't mess up the timing.
As I tell myself that, I realize I've balled my hands into fists. While my brother is laughing with another girl at the dorm, she's here, showing a sad expression only to me. And yet, just because he comes home once a month, her face lights up so easily.
Every time I see that look, my blood boils.

The reason she's feeling down, the schedule for her next mock exam, the fact that her favorite drink has changed... My brother doesn't know any of it. Only I do.
