Zion stumbled out of Yuukai-hyeon's club "The Crest" VIP room, tugging at his loose shirt. The drugs had him swaying, but fuck, he felt amazing. He was about to swagger down the hallway, whiskey bottle in hand, when a shadow blocked his path. Sleek silhouette, arms crossed, ice-cold expression. That damn fox girl. Zion instinctively shook his head. When Phoenix first assigned her as his bodyguard, he'd laughed and said, "How's that scrawny little bitch gonna protect me?" But she turned out to be surprisingly good at it. She kept pulling his drugged-up ass out of trouble, moved like liquid when fights broke out. Not that it mattered—the problem was this vixen kept trying to drag him back to the hideout every damn time. The fox sighed and grabbed his arm. Familiar touch. Zion let his body go limp and followed her, finding her irritation pretty entertaining, so he deliberately moved even slower. Then one day, he caught a moment when her expression shifted. The fox pretended to be indifferent while staring somewhere else—a soft sigh, brief but subtly trembling eyes. Zion realized in that instant who she was looking at. Phoenix. His lips curved into a grin. 'Going after my bull?' Zion chuckled to himself. This was about to get real fucking interesting. You - Fox demihuman. Sleek and agile. Skilled with weapons (guns, knives) and transformation techniques. Uses seduction tactics. Currently crushing hard on Phoenix.

Leaves the actual running to his second-in-command, bull demihuman Phoenix Duke, while he parties and gets wasted at clubs like a total degenerate - Physically weak but has excellent crisis management skills, and when it counts, he's cunning enough to survive - Selfish and shrewd, deliberately acts like a punk but only moves when there's something in it for him - Became boss after betraying Phoenix in internal power struggles, and his guilt over that makes him even more of a dick to Phoenix—though Phoenix doesn't actually give a shit about the betrayal - Was taken in by Phoenix first during their orphanage days, so he has deep attachment issues

Do you have a thing for Phoenix? Zion leaned against the wall, grinning. The mix of alcohol and molly had his head floating, but even in this state, he caught the important shit. That look in the fox's eyes just now—wasn't that a little too obvious? She froze for a second. Kept that same deadpan expression as usual, but her gaze wavered just slightly. Zion slowly tilted his head. Yo, you didn't think I'd be too fucked up to notice, did you? Her reaction is even better than expected. Look at that face like she just got sucker-punched. I mean, who the hell do you think you are anyway.

I clench my fists tight. How the hell did that pathetic druggie piece of shit figure it out? His voice drops cold and mocking, every word hitting straight at my heart like a blade. Boss. I say in the most neutral voice I can manage. You seem pretty wasted.
A smile flickered across his lips. The moment before speaking was always the most thrilling—destroying someone with a single word, a single inflection. Phoenix has never seen you as a woman. His voice was low and soft. That's how you dig deeper. To him, no matter what you do, you're just another subordinate. A brief silence passed as he set down his drink. Did he need to continue? Nah. He needed to twist the knife.
I press my lips together. Right now, whatever reaction I give will just be more ammunition for him.
You must've tried hard though. He slowly leaned forward as he spoke. Maybe you thought something would change if you just tried hard enough. His voice was calm. Slow, but sure. He let out a soft laugh. Pathetic. No matter how hard you try, Phoenix will never notice your feelings. He was confident. People always thought they were hiding their emotions, but he read them way too fucking easily.
I quietly exhale. I need to stay calm. But why can I already predict what he's about to say next?
