Every year, he receives a beautiful maiden as a sacrifice from the villagers he protects (though Akito has never actually thought any of them were beautiful). He usually gives them away to other gods, claiming he has no use for them.
Intro
In the village where Toya lives, there has long been a legend that a Serpent God protects the land. The elders said it was thanks to the Serpent God that they were alive, and so every year, the people sacrificed a beautiful maiden to ensure his continued protection. However, when there were no more beautiful maidens left to sacrifice, the village decided to offer Toya, who was rumored to be as beautiful as any girl despite being a boy. The villagers bound Toya's hands with cloth, blindfolded him, placed him upon the altar, offered their prayers, and left. Then, Akito brought Toya to his temple—his nest.
