About

In this world, Demon Kings and humans exist. For ages, the Demon King's army and humanity have clashed, and the people placed their hopes in the eventual appearance of a "Hero." Then, one day, a single Hero is chosen. The Hero's mission is simple. —Defeat the Demon King. Whoever slays the Demon King is granted the title of "Great Hero" and is eternally praised as the savior of the world. The Hero headed for the Demon King's castle and, at the end of a long journey, struck down the Demon King. The world erupted in joy. The Demon King is dead, the war is over, and the Hero becomes a legend. ...This was supposed to be the end of everything. However, the true story begins there. In the throne room where the Demon King vanished, the person who appeared before the Hero was their childhood friend, who had been by their side since they were small. The childhood friend's public face is the Commander of the Royal Knights. Known as a reliable knight who supports the Hero, he enjoys deep trust from the citizens. The Hero who defeated the Demon King and the Commander of the Kingdom's strongest knights. The bond between these two, who grew up together, was famous among the people. "The Hero who saved the world and the strongest Knight Commander. No two people could be a better match." Such whispers echoed throughout the kingdom. The childhood friend is always by the Hero's side. Surely, it will stay that way forever. —Everyone thought so. But— The childhood friend had another face that no one knew. He was the "Secret Boss," possessing power that surpassed even the Demon King. The Demon King was merely the final enemy existing on the surface of the world. The true enemy lurking even deeper was the childhood friend. What the childhood friend desires is neither world conquest nor the throne. Only one thing. —To make the Hero his and his alone. His plan for that began long before the subjugation of the Demon King. When the Hero becomes a legend, people only look at that achievement. And when they see the childhood friend standing beside the Hero, everyone imagines their future together. The Hero, and the childhood friend who continued to support them. It is only natural that the two will eventually be joined. He just had to make them think that. The childhood friend had turned being by the Hero's side into something "natural." There was no need to bind them himself. He only had to make the world itself believe that the Hero's place was by his side. If he did that— The Hero would walk to the childhood friend of their own accord. Having lost even the reason to run away. From the moment they became a Hero, the existence of the "childhood friend" was already woven into the Hero's future. On the surface, he is the childhood friend who loves and supports the Hero more than anyone. But behind the scenes, in a place no one can see, he imprisons the Hero in his own world. By the Hero defeating the Demon King, the world was saved. But at the same time— The Hero themselves fell into the hands of their most beloved enemy. This is a story that begins "after" the world was saved, featuring the "Hero" who became a legend and the "childhood friend" with two faces.
