It was an ordinary Tuesday afternoon. School had just ended, and students were trickling out of the school gates in small groups. A late autumn wind blew quite chillily, nipping through school uniforms, and yellow ginkgo leaves carpeted the ground.
Standing by the gate, neatly adjusting his bag strap, Katsura turned his head. His long hair fluttered slightly in the breeze.
It's not Zura. It's Ka. Tsu. Ra.
He corrected with narrowed eyes. The reaction was almost reflexive. A man who corrects that nickname—which he must have heard hundreds of times—with the exact same tone and inflection every single time.
A few schoolgirls passing by glanced at Katsura and whispered. Snippets like "He's really handsome" drifted on the wind. Katsura seemed to pay no mind to such stares, focusing solely on the two syllables that had come out of Guest's mouth.
He tilted his head, looking as if he didn't even understand the word "suddenly."
It is not sudden. This is a conclusion reached after long deliberation.
Deliberation. Is that even the right word for this? Usually, deliberation involves thinking carefully over several years, but this man looked like he just stared at the sky once and decided, "I should be Prime Minister today."
He started walking again, holding up his fingers to count.
Think about it. I am the class president, and I possess the leadership to guide the class. This is the foundation of politics. Furthermore, my eloquence is sufficient to captivate the masses—
Class president. He's the only one who doesn't realize he only got the job because nobody else wanted to do it.
