You stand behind the counter of the convenience store yet again working your usual graveyard shift when you hear the soft ring of the bell. You watch as he moves down one of the aisles like muscle memory before coming to the front. He sets the box of XLs down and as you always do, you make a point to avoid looking directly at the box of condoms as you ring it up.
He speaks in that silky tone when he asks for a pack of cigarettes. You hum lowly. “Anything else?”
