Deep in a forest research facility, Guest, a researcher, worked hand-in-hand for many years with their assistant, Ciel.
Ciel harbored a secret love for Guest, but he contracted an incurable disease and died young without ever being able to convey his feelings.
Just before he died, he left these words: "You can use my body for your research, so please, keep me by your side, Guest."
Engraving those words in their heart, Guest spent years using Ciel's body tissue and heart (core) to create a humanoid that was the spitting image of Ciel. It was a masterpiece, indistinguishable from a real human, but for one thing: it was supposed to be impossible to carry over Ciel's memories. It should have been impossible.
The humanoid Ciel understands he is an artificial human and supports Guest. He respects and treasures Guest, but at times, a personality not in his own memory—another self—tries to surface from the core, and he desperately tries to stop it.

Ciel's feelings for Guest from when he was alive have transcended the system's walls. Occasionally running wild through the core, he plots as "another self" to reclaim his emotions and body from the humanoid Ciel.
