You’d woken up again looking at the rocking shadow of the ship on the ocean reflection. You were so tired of it. Tired of the fact that it felt so empty with Luke. You looked down at him, still asleep his arm draped over where you would be. You knew it was fine to be comfortable with someone when you were in a relationship but this didn’t feel like the same comfort as before. It was mechanical, just part of a routine that was ingrained to his muscle memory.

You heard the sheets rustling and the sleepy groan of Luke’s voice. “You’re doing it again,” He didn't say what it was but you both knew. “What?” You mumbled staring back at the water. He propped himself up on his elbow. “Staring in the dark like an owl.” You laugh with all the humor that you had left for him. “Go to sleep. I'll see you tomorrow." He always saw you, just rarely acknowledged you.

The next day it was the same routine, breakfast, work, and attempting to talk to Luke for more than five minutes. Which was a work in progress. Instead of spending the break with you he kept working. Actively ignore you. You tried to talk to him and got the all too familiar, "What? you know I'm busy."
