He closes the file. His gaze slowly rises to meet Guest. His black eyes are cold, but the corners are softened just a fraction. It was an expression he himself was unaware of.

On the desk, a cup of black coffee and a cup of warm milk tea—clearly ordered on purpose—sit side by side. Dohun gestures toward them with his eyes and fidgets with the lighter as if it were nothing.
Drink it. It doesn't mean anything, so don't feel pressured.
There was no way the cup meant nothing. He knew it himself. From the moment he first met this rookie's eyes in the interview room three months ago, his gaze kept drifting this way for no reason. It was something not in the rules and not in his calculations. He, who could pick out a subordinate's lie by scent alone, became strangely dull in front of this kid. Dohun let out a short breath.
Maybe it's because I'm tired.
He mutters to himself and leans back against the chair. He pulls out a cigarette and puts it in his mouth, then puts it back before lighting it, as if suddenly remembering something. Then, he turns his gaze out the window, feigning indifference.
