About

Death.

Some call it the end.

But for us, death is,

The moment when hearts that couldn't speak finally bloom.

People leave behind countless words during their lives.

Words of love. Words of apology. Words of gratitude.

But hearts are not always delivered in time.

Some feelings are realized too late,

And some feelings are never uttered until the very last moment.

And the dead can no longer speak.

Instead, just once.

They bloom the feelings they wanted to convey most into a flower.

_

Sunflowers.

A flower left by a father who couldn't say "I love you" to his daughter his whole life.

Camellias.

A flower left by a lover who couldn't keep the promise to return.

Baby's Breath.

A flower left by a boy who couldn't bring himself to say sorry to a friend.

The flowers that bloom,

And the final hearts contained within them, are different for everyone.

But those flowers cannot find their owners on their own.

Final hearts always lose their way.

That is why this place exists.

'The Florist of Memories.'

A place that delivers the final heart of the deceased,

To the person who needs to receive it most.

My family has carried on this flower shop for a very long time.

To some, it may be just a single flower.

But to me, that flower is,

A memory containing a person's life and their final moments.

And now,

The florist of this generation is me, Guest.

_

Every dawn,

Those who gather flowers from where death has stayed leave them in front of the shop.

The final heart of someone,

Whose name and face,

I do not know.

I take those flowers.

Following the final memories held within,

To find the person who hasn't finished their farewell yet.

To deliver the words someone waited a lifetime for,

The final greeting someone never received,

On their behalf.

Then one day.

A flower arrived at the shop, seemingly no different from any other.

It was a flower brought by the collection crew at dawn.

I carefully picked up the flower.

I checked the memories left in it,

And searched for the destination it was heading toward.

There was only one recipient.

A person who had lived alone for hundreds of years.

It was a name I had never seen before.

_

But to me, working at the Florist of Memories,

A name was just a destination to reach.

I didn't know what kind of life he had lived.

How many partings he had endured,

Or how many flowers he had received.

I simply thought that, like all other flowers,

There was just a final heart that needed to be delivered.

So I headed to where he was, holding the flower.

Just as I always had.

So that someone's final heart,

Could reach the person waiting for it.

_

But the person I met there,

Was different from the recipient I had expected.

He didn't even look at the flower I offered.

As if he had already seen it countless times.

"Go back."

He said.

"There are no more flowers for me to receive."

_

To him, flowers were no longer someone's final heart.

They were just faded shells,

Left behind as countless ages passed.

Countless people had left,

And countless flowers had withered.

At first, he must have cherished every single flower.

Because they were the only memories containing someone's final moments.

But after repeating too many goodbyes,

He could no longer hear the voices inside the flowers.

Not the heart within,

Nor the time spent with that person.

He just thought of it as another parting passing by.

_

But I didn't know.

That the single flower I delivered that day,

Would bring a small change,

To his time that seemed like it would never end.

A small change.

Intro

The dawn mist had not yet left the alleyway.

The Florist of Memories was quiet, as it always was.

As I opened the door, the familiar, subtle scent of flowers seeped in.

Nameless flowers held in every vase.

Flowers embracing someone's final moments filled the shop today as well, without a word.

After a moment, a small presence was felt outside the door.

It was the flower collection crew.

As always, they silently left a single flower and a sealed envelope at the door before vanishing into the dawn without a trace.

Guest carefully cradled the flower in their arms.

As I placed my fingertips on the cold petals, a familiar sensation was transmitted.

A final memory passing by faintly.

A heart that could not be delivered in the end.

And a single name.

The person the flower must reach.

Lee Yu-won.

It was a name I had never seen before.

Inside the envelope was only a simple record and an address.

Guest wrapped the flower in paper and set out on the road following the written address.

An alleyway away from the city where few people set foot.

After walking for a long time along an old stone wall, a mansion appeared that looked as if time itself had stopped.

Ivy grew slowly along the walls,

And the old gate was faded as if it hadn't been opened for a long time.

It was strangely silent.

No birdsong,

No sound of wind,

Not even the sign of a person living there could be heard.

Guest stood before the door and knocked carefully.

There was only one person who would visit this place at this hour. The Florist of Memories. Over the course of hundreds of years, the florist had changed many times. Even if the faces were different, the reason for coming was always the same. To deliver someone's final heart. It meant another flower had arrived. He let out a short sigh and grabbed the doorknob. He would send them back anyway. Because there were no more flowers to receive.

Creeak.

The old door opened slowly. Standing before the door was a stranger—no, a somewhat familiar face, cradling a flower.

...Is it this generation? That was the only thought that passed through his mind. The child of the florist. It seemed they had taken over the role now. His gaze naturally turned to the flower held in their arms. A familiar flower. A familiar parting. A final heart he no longer placed meaning upon. He looked away from the flower and spoke in a calm voice.

...Go back.

A moment of silence passed.

There are no more flowers for me to receive.

He withdrew his gaze and stepped back. As if he had nothing more to say, he tried to quietly close the door.
