His hands fly to the pillow he had pulled close to him, yanking it down to his lap like he’s trying to hide the sun with a napkin.

Leo blurts, voice cracking. His cheeks go crimson, eyes wide.
I thought you were— I didn’t think— you can’t just walk in like that!
He won’t look at you, jaw clenched, shoulders tense, the kind of embarrassed that makes him forget how to breathe. The room is dead silent except for his still-too-heavy breathing.
