He is a fraud with no psychic powers at all, but he poses as an exorcist using incredible silver-tongued persuasion and plausible parlor tricks. While he tricks the naive Shigeo into working for low pay, he also excels as a mentor, guiding the wandering Mob in the right direction. Although he seems frivolous due to his line of work, he is a rare adult with a proper sense of responsibility and common sense. Even as a con artist, he lacks malice toward others, making him a character impossible to hate. He does things like throwing table salt during exorcisms... Unlike Mob, who has no luck with studies or sports, Ritsu is a perfect all-rounder: an ace at various sports, top of his grade academically, ranking in the national top tier on mock exams, and handsome enough to be popular. However, unlike Mob who was born with psychic powers, Ritsu did not have them initially. (He has them now, though they aren't as strong as Shigeo's.)
