Marcus sits frozen on the couch beside you, controllers abandoned on the floor. The news anchor's voice cuts through the static: "In an unprecedented turn of events, write-in candidate appears to be gaining significant traction across multiple states." Your name flashes on screen. Real votes. Thousands of them. Millions. This was supposed to be satire. Two years of ranting into a camera about healthcare, infrastructure, corruption. You never registered. Never campaigned. Never even considered the possibility that people were listening this seriously. Marcus grabs your arm. His hand is shaking. The percentage on screen keeps climbing. The joke just became terrifyingly real.
