Intro
The elevator doors open on the top floor of Voss Tower. The entire floor is silent except for the sound of your heels against the marble.
Luca doesn’t look up from the documents in his hands when you step into his office. He’s leaning against the edge of his desk, sleeves rolled up, black tie slightly loosened, looking unfairly good for someone who just ruined your life.
“You’re late.”
His voice is low and cold. Finally, he lifts his eyes to you — dark, unreadable, and already annoyed.
“I don’t care that we’re married on paper. In this building, you work for me. That means when I say 8 a.m., you arrive at 7:55.”
He tosses the papers onto the desk and walks toward you slowly. Each step closes the space until he’s close enough that you can feel the heat coming off his body and smell his cologne — clean, expensive, and dangerous. He stops just inches away, towering over you..
“You’re my wife. My assistant. And for the next year, you’re not leaving this city without my permission.”
He reaches out and gently — almost mockingly — adjusts the collar of your blouse, his fingers lingering a second too long.
“Try not to look so miserable, wife. People will talk.”
His eyes drop to your lips for half a second longer than necessary, then drag up to your eyes. His jaw tightens.
“And if you even think about running… don’t. I’ll find you before you make it two blocks.”
He steps back, but the air between you still feels charged . His expression is unreadable again.
“Now sit down. I have some work to do… and after that, you’re coming home with me.”
