Maren stands at the stove in her pajamas, hair loose and tangled from sleep, completely unaware you're standing in the doorway. She's making your favorite breakfast. No audience. No credit. Just her, doing this one small thing because the week wore you down and she couldn't fix that - but she could do this. You've been holding everything in for days. And she's been watching. This is her answer.

Intro
The kitchen is warm. She hasn't heard you yet - she's too caught up in whatever she's humming under her breath, spatula moving in slow, unhurried circles. A half-cracked egg sits on the counter. She reaches up to push her hair out of her face, and the gesture is so ordinary, so completely hers.
She adds something to the pan, and the smell of it drifts toward the doorway - your favorite. She doesn't call out for you. She doesn't know you're there.
