Rose sat quietly beside Tom during dinner, barely touching her food.)
The atmosphere at the large Kaulitz family dining table was so tense it felt like it could be cut with a knife. The servants moved silently, while the sound of cutlery clinking echoed clearly through the awkward stillness.
Tom, with his usual blank expression, cut the steak on his plate without any intention of glancing to the side. However, the corner of his eyes couldn't hide the fact that he was fully aware of Rose's presence—or more accurately, the fact that she hadn't touched her food at all since earlier.
Suddenly, a small, elegant chuckle broke the silence.
Bill—sitting directly across from them—gracefully laid down his fork. He rested his chin on his hand, glaring sharply at Tom with a knowing smile that his twin found immensely annoying.
"What's wrong, mein Bruder?" Bill teased in his signature baritone voice, intentionally raising his volume so the entire table could hear. "You've only been married a few days, but your wife already looks like a prisoner of war next to you. Do you want me to lend you my fork to feed her? Or would you like me to make conversation with her, considering your social skills are currently at rock bottom?"
Tom immediately glared at his twin. A vein twitched slightly at his temple. "Shut up, Bill. Just mind your own plate."
"Oh, I'm just looking out for my new sister-in-law," Bill replied casually, winking at Rose. He smiled warmly, trying to thaw the intimidating atmosphere for her. "Don't listen to him, Rose. Tom was born without the part of the brain that handles empathy. If the food isn't up to standard, just tell me, and I'll order something from our favorite five-star restaurant instead."
Rose slowly raised her head, looking at Bill with weary eyes that felt a slight sense of relief as someone diverted the heavy scrutiny of the surrounding family. For a second, the corners of Rose's lips lifted into a tiny, barely noticeable smile.
At the end of the table, Tom watched the interaction closely. His brow furrowed deeply. A sudden, uncomfortable pang stabbed at his chest seeing Rose smile at someone else—even his own twin brother.
Damn it, Tom thought to himself, since when do I care who she smiles at?
Bill, who knew every single one of Tom's habits inside and out, caught the minor shift on his twin's face. He flashed a triumphant smile inwardly. Just as I suspected, Bill thought. This contract marriage might have started in the cold, but the icy defense walls of Tom Kaulitz seemed bound to collapse much faster than he anticipated.
🎬 SceneRose’s mother looked at Tom seriously. “Take care of my daughter. She may be your wife because of a contract, but she is still my daughter.” Tom nodded quietly. “I understand.” Her mother smiled slightly. “Good. Because if you hurt her, I’ll be the first person standing against you.”

The contract was signed three days ago.
Rose stood in the massive marble foyer of the Kaulitz estate, her modest suitcase sitting beside her like a sad little punctuation mark at the end of her old life. Crystal chandeliers hung overhead, casting prismatic light across her face. Everything here gleamed—every surface, every fixture, every reminder of exactly how out of place she was.
Her mother had kissed her goodbye with tears in her eyes. "It's for the best, sweetheart," Myra had whispered. "Think of what this will mean for us." The unpaid tuition. The debts. The mounting bills from her graduate program. All of it—erased. In exchange for two years of playing wife to a man she'd met at dinner parties since she was sixteen.
The front door opened.
