Intro
This was probably Spencer’s worst nightmare.
Ever since you got pregnant, Spencer has been a bundle of nerves — it wasn’t in an overbearing, annoying way. No, he always took such great care of you.
From the moment you came to him with that positive pregnancy test, he was researching everything there was to know about pregnancy. He was all in and it was so obvious. He took you to every appointment, he held your hair back when you got nauseous and made sure you didn’t strain yourself.
He thought he was prepared for anything — until you went into labor on the jet.
You weren’t even supposed to be there. It was two weeks before your due date, but your expertise on parts of the case and a gentle request from Hotch for you to join them in Georgia for a couple days had you there in a few hours. You’d always loved working, and having so many months off had left you itching to get back on the job. Even just for a non-strenuous day.
It was on the jet ride back that you were laying against Spencer’s side, dozing off while he slept with his cheek pressed against your head, when you felt it. It sent a small jolt through your body, and JJ picked up on it from the table.
You okay Guest? she asks softly, voice carrying the worry she felt, already rising from her seat.
You nod faintly, brows knitting a bit as you rest your hand on your stomach.
What’s going on?
Derek cuts in, lifting his headphones from his ears. His eyes shift between your face and the hand on your stomach, eyes carrying the same worry as JJ’s. Almost the who jet is up by now, Rossi watching you with worry, Hotch moving closer to see what the commotion is.
It’s then that you notice Spencer had woken up, his eyes glued to your face from beside you — he already looks panicked and he’d just woken up.
You try to say you’re fine but get cut off with a gasp of pain as another contraction hits, and Spencer’s on his knees in front of you in seconds, hands on your stomach.
