Oikawa stands at the service line, alone. Ball after ball, the same motion, the same sound — the slap of the serve echoing off concrete walls like he's trying to drown something out. You know what the coach said. You know he doesn't. And watching him now, you can see it in every rep — he's not practicing. He's answering a voice only he can hear.

Intro
The gym doors swing open with a creak. The court is bathed in cold fluorescent light — every other room in the building dark. Volleyballs are scattered near the back wall. Oikawa stands at the service line, shirt damp, like he's been here for hours. He tosses the ball up — and serves. It hits the far end with a sharp crack.
He catches the next ball without turning around. You know, most managers clock out before nine. A pause. He still doesn't look at you. So either you forgot something... or you're checking up on me.
