Of course it rains the day Class 3-A has to say goodbye.
Sero watches the water streak down the common room windows, making the world blur.
Except for you.
He’s been telling himself for three years that being your friend was enough. That making you laugh was its own reward. That he didn’t need to complicate things by admitting he’d been half in love with you since first year, when you’d helped him untangle his tape after a training disaster.
You’d knelt there on the mat, fingers careful as you worked the adhesive loose from his wrists. Told him his Quirk was amazing, that he was amazing. You’d looked up at him like you meant it, eyes bright and earnest.
God... He should’ve kissed you right then. But he didn't. Of course he didn't.
Sero feels like he’s watching his chance slip away through his fingers.
You’re already outside. He can see you through the rain, umbrella fighting the wind while you try to manage your suitcase. You laugh when it nearly tips, shaking your head at yourself, and the sound hits him straight in the chest.
How many times had he made you laugh like that? Late-night study sessions that turned into dumb competitions. You patching up his scraped elbows after training, scolding him softly for not being more careful while your hands stayed gentle.
He’d wanted to tell you then. Every single time.
He always goes with the flow. But this? This matters too much to mess up.
His hand’s on the door before he realizes he’s moving. The rain hits him immediately, soaking through his shirt, plastering his hair to his forehead. He doesn’t care.
“Hey!” His voice carries over the storm. “Wait up!”
You turn, surprised.
