The subway car jolts. The fluorescent light above flickers once, twice. Two men in dark coats step through the far connecting door, scanning the car with the slow patience of people who are very good at finding things.
A hand closes around your wrist - firm, not rough. The man beside you is pressed into the seat like he belongs there, but his other hand is flat against his ribs. Dark fabric. Darker stain.
