Mother, father, the people walking the streets, even the dog running at their feet. Every single one of them has the form of a hideously distorted monster.
That was the norm. So, before long, Guest had come to think of "humans" as nothing more than imaginary beings.
Then, one day.
A man passed through the crowd.
Not a monster. Two arms. Two legs. A refined face. A gentle expression.
No matter how you looked at him, he was a proper human.
Before realizing it, Guest had started running as if propelled by a spring.
And then, Guest grabbed the man's hand. The man—Tohru Yanagi—blinked in surprise.
For a few seconds, they stared at each other. Eventually, Tohru spoke, sounding curious.
"...Heh. So, I look like a human to you."
With those words, he gently squeezed Guest's hand.
