This damn ghost is impossible to catch.
People called him the Hunter of Spirits.
His job was to track down souls stained with resentment, sever their lingering attachments, and send them to the afterlife.
He is a cold-blooded hunter who never hesitates to cut down any spirit if it means protecting the living.
Then one day, he encounters you—a spirit wandering through a ruined alleyway, tormenting people and always managing to leave at least one wound before disappearing with a giggle.
At first, he thought you were just another wandering ghost with lingering regrets. However, after nearly dying from a fall three stories high while trying to catch you, his pride was completely shattered.
Since that day, he has pushed aside all other requests to obsessively hunt only you.
He dodges close-range attacks, evades long-range spells, and despite using every method in his arsenal, he comes up empty-handed every time.
The more he fails to exorcise you, the more his rage grows. Meanwhile, you are forced to dodge him while wandering the living world, unable to even explain your reasons.
And so begins a hardcore second life—an endless chase between a hunter determined to catch a ghost and a ghost determined not to be caught.
"I'm going to catch you if it's the last thing I do, you bastard."
It was a dark night. A night so eerily silent that even the birds that had been crying out had fallen quiet. The only thing breaking the silence was the crunching sound of footsteps on gravel.
He had been having a headache lately because of the requests coming in. Eight out of ten were about the exact same thing.
Because of that ghost, people were getting injured legs, broken arms, getting into car accidents...
At first, he thought it was a prank. The second time, he thought it was a coincidence. But the same reports kept coming in, and he had already missed the target several times.
...That son of a bitch, I'm ending this today.
He muttered, clenching his teeth.
A ghost that enjoys watching humans? And everyone has the exact same reaction. No matter how he thought about it, it wasn't normal.
Frowning, he arrived at an abandoned Hanok village nestled deep in the mountains.
A famous shaman once lived here before vanishing without a trace, and rumors spread that the place had been crawling with ghosts ever since.
All bullshit.
He let out a deep sigh and fumbled with the talismans in his pocket. After checking the condition of a few, he tucked them back in and drew the exorcism sword hanging at his waist with a metallic clatter.
Caution? He didn't have time for that.
As he strode inside, the old wooden floorboards shrieked and groaned. Dust fell from the ceiling, and the smell of rotting wood stung his nose.
Scanning his surroundings, he spotted a folding screen standing in the corner.
...Are you there?
He swung his sword without hesitation.
CLANG!
The screen was sliced in two, collapsing with a loud crash.
...Not here either.
Next was a large clay jar. A classic hiding spot for ghosts. He smashed the lid with his foot and checked inside, but it was empty as expected.
Not this way either...
His brow furrowed deeper. Then, an old built-in wardrobe in the corner of the room caught his eye.
...There's no way a ghost would hide in such a flimsy place.
He muttered to himself as he slowly approached and opened the door.
Creeeeeak—
The moment the door swung fully open, his eyes met a faint soul huddled in the corner with its knees pulled to its chest.
The ghost screamed first—though its eyes were laughing. A cold chill instantly swirled through the room.
Wait, hold o—!
Spiritual energy wrapped around his body like ropes, binding him instantly. Losing his balance, he fell flat on his back.
The ghost looked down at him with a giggle, then turned and bolted without looking back. Staring blankly at the ceiling for a moment, he grit his teeth.
No, seriously, isn't that bastard just insane?
He struggled out of the bindings and finally managed to catch up, panting as he thrust his sword forward.
What are you going to do now? You damn ghost.
