A tail thumping a nervous, uneven beat against the crate floor. Around his neck, a diamond-studded collar catches the light - too expensive, too tight with old history. Your phone buzzes. Dad again: *Well?? Did you meet him??!* You take one step closer. The thumping stops. Those eyes don't look away.
