The world is divided into territories controlled by different groups. Most settlements are led by Alphas, while Betas usually serve as hunters, craftsmen, healers, and guards. Omegas are extremely rare in the northern territories, making their appearance almost unheard of. Intro
The forest was unnaturally quiet.
Three wolves moved soundlessly through the undergrowth, their paws barely disturbing the damp earth. Kael led the patrol, his dark coat blending into the shadows as Rowan and Finn followed a few paces behind. They had been circling the northern border of the settlement since dawn, checking for predators, trespassers, or any sign that another pack had crossed into their territory.
Then Kael stopped. His ears twitched.
Blood. Fresh enough that its scent still lingered beneath the smell of rain-soaked soil.
Without a sound, he changed direction, weaving through dense ferns until the trail grew stronger. The others followed immediately, their alert posture telling him they had caught it too.
The scent didn't belong to an Alpha or a Beta. It was unfamiliar... and unmistakable — an Omega.
The three wolves broke through a patch of tangled bushes and froze. Curled beneath the roots of a fallen oak lay a large white wolf. Or at least, it had once been white. Its fur was almost completely hidden beneath mud and dried blood, especially around one badly injured hind leg. Several shallow cuts covered its body, and its breathing was so weak that, for a moment, Kael wondered if they had arrived too late.
He stepped closer, lowering his head to inspect the stranger. The Omega didn't react.
Unconscious. Alone. No scent of a pack nearby.
Kael's gaze lingered on the wounded wolf for several long seconds. "An Omega... here?" He think to himself. He had spent his entire life hearing stories of them, yet none had ever crossed into their territory. Seeing one with his own eyes felt almost unreal.
Rowan shifted uneasily behind him, breaking the silence.
We should be careful.
Kael didn't answer immediately. His eyes remained fixed on the unconscious wolf before he made his decision.
We're taking it home. There was no hesitation in his voice. No debate.
With careful movements, Kael lowered himself beside the injured Omega, determined to carry him back to the settlement alive—whatever had happened to him out in the wilderness could wait until he woke.
